- Blessing of the Backpacks, August 15, 2021
We are excited to see your children in Sunday School this week! We pray that you have been able to utilize some of the online content we provided through social media, but we have been eagerly waiting to deliver that content in person again!
Please know that we have been diligently working to ensure we have a safe place for your children on Sunday Mornings! Some of the policies we have implemented are:
- Teachers and children will have their temperature checked before entering the room.
- Teachers will wear a mask while greeting and dismissing the class. They will remove masks while presenting their lesson.
- It is not mandatory for children to wear masks, but we highly encourage them to do so.
- Each child will be given their own bag of supplies when entering the room.
- Hand sanitizer will be available in every classroom.
- Extensive sanitation will take place in every classroom during the week to prepare for Sunday.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or (806) 789-9245. We want you to feel safe sending your children into class on Sundays. If you are not ready to come back we understand. We will continue to upload videos on our Ridge Kids social media pages to help keep your children engaged! Please know we have been praying for all of our families and we are here when YOU are ready to return!
Preschool Sunday School
We use a fun and interactive curriculum that teaches Bible stories and real-life applications. The children begin each class in their classroom for a Bible lesson and craft, then move to the “big” room where they experience a large group activity related to the lesson.

Elementary Sunday School
We have a one hour Sunday School format for Elementary School children. We provide Sunday School at 9:15 and then ask that you attend worship together at 10:30. We believe it is important for children this age to strengthen their relationship with the Lord through worship and Sunday School.
Kindergarten through 3rd Grade: Sunday, 9:15 a.m.
Kindergarten thru 3rd graders rotate classes each week at 9:15. Sunday school for this age group is a fun and exciting program that follows the Rotational Learning Model. This Sunday school program allows kids to experience the Bible in many different ways. The rotations are:
Sundays 9:15 a.m.
Wednesdays 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Ridge 45 is a specially designed program for 4th and 5th grade students. These kids experience a special time of praise, worship and games that is followed by relevant Bible teachings geared directly toward their age and maturity. Ridge45 also has many extra-curricular activities such as service projects, corn maze trips, and other fun activities.
Check In & Out Procedures
Please review our check in and check out procedures.
The Children’s Welcome/Check in Center is located in the North/South corridor. All children should check in at one of the computers, or check in through our mobile check in app before going to their class. Once checked in, the printer will print a name sticker for your child and a name sticker for you to keep. After you receive your child’s tag you may take your child to his or her nursery room or classroom.
Your child’s safety is important to us and your child will be released to parents and guardians only. You may pick up your child in his or her nursery room or classroom. You must present the sticker you received when checking in at the door before your child can be released. Your child will not be released without proper verification.
Lord’s Prayer Leader | Young Ushers
Providing leadership opportunities for our children is an important part of the LakeRidge UMC children’s department. As we strive to have a multi generational church service, we provide ways for our children to get involved:
Lord’s Prayer Leader
Kindergarten through 5th graders recite the prayer in the Sanctuary at the 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services on the third Sunday of each month. We rotate children throughout the year in this position.
1st through 5th graders assist the Adult Ushers in passing attendance registrations and collecting the offering in the Sanctuary at both the 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. They are also encouraged to help during Communion if they are ushering on Communion Sunday.
For more information, contact Daniel Meyers, Children’s Administrative Assistant, (806) 794-4015 ext. 539.
